Point⚓︎

Point is where you manage your Illumibots and illumiFun: their status, locations, projector power and settings.

Adding a device⚓︎

  • No devices yet? Tap Get Started.
  • Adding another? Tap Add a bot.

Both open the setup wizard described in Setting up your Illumibot. You can scan the Illumibot's QR code or search your network.

Your devices⚓︎

Each device has a card showing:

  • Short ID — the last 6 characters of the Illumibot's ID, or FUN for illumiFun.
  • Location photo — the photo of the active location, as the card's background.
  • Status — Projecting (with a LIVE pill), Online, Offline, or No location yet, plus the active location's name.
  • Wi-Fi strength — shown when the device is online over Wi-Fi.

Tap a card to open Edit Illumibot. Each card also has quick buttons:

Button What it does
Power Turn the projector on or off. If power control isn't set up yet, this opens the Projector Control Hub.
Send an image Show a test image on the projector: Original (location photo), Mask, Checker, White, Black, Red, Green, Blue, Purple or Focus. Handy for focusing and checking alignment.
Go to prompt Open Prompt Chat for this device.

Filtering, sorting and bulk actions⚓︎

With more than one device, the top of the page gets extra controls:

  • Show — All, Live (online and projecting), Online or Offline.
  • Sort by — Projecting first, Name A-Z or Recently added.
  • Every-bot actions — these apply to the devices currently shown:
    • Power all on / Power all off
    • Show all projections / Hide all projections
    • Reorder bots — drag to change the order.
    • Select bots — pick several devices, then Power them off, Move to a group, or make a new Group. You can also long-press a card to start selecting.

Groups⚓︎

With two or more Illumibots, a Groups tab appears. A group is a named set of locations, one per Illumibot. For example, a Halloween group might use the Garage door location on one bot and the Porch location on another.

  • New group — name it and choose a location for each Illumibot.
  • Turn the group on — switches every member to the group's location. An Illumibot can only show one location at a time, so if the group takes bots from another group, the app tells you (takes N from <group>).
  • Prompt the group — create for every location in the group at once.
  • Group options — Manage group, Rename, Check for updates (update every Illumibot in the group) or Delete group.

Edit Illumibot⚓︎

Tap a device card to open it. The top-right buttons are Power projector, Send image and Settings.

Locations⚓︎

A location saves one setup: its photo, alignment and mask. Always check the right location is selected before you create.

  • Add location — start a new setup.
  • Location menu:
    • View Prompts — see what you've made for this location.
    • Edit Location Details — projector manufacturer, model and resolution.
    • Move to another illumibot / Copy to another illumibot / Duplicate on this illumibot
    • Delete this location — the app asks whether to delete the location's content too. If you do, its shows are removed and its creations can no longer be played.

Below the locations are the setup steps: Name, Photo, Alignment, Mask and Prompt. See Set up a location.

Illumibot Settings⚓︎

Open a device, then tap Settings.

Device Info⚓︎

Shows the ID (tap to copy), Version, storage, Temperature, Memory Used, Uptime, IPV4, WiFi network, Resolution and Last seen. The version is green when the Illumibot is up to date.

Connected Projector shows what the Illumibot reads from your projector over HDMI, such as its manufacturer and model.

Maintenance⚓︎

  • Check For Updates — update the Illumibot's firmware. See Firmware updates.
  • Diagnose & Refresh illumibot — try this first if the projector shows a green Illumibot logo and the Illumibot isn't responding.
  • Restart illumibot — make sure your projector is on first.
  • Replace illumibot — scan a new Illumibot's QR code to move this one's name and locations onto it. The old Illumibot is unlinked from your account.

Projection⚓︎

  • Projector Control — opens the Projector Control Hub.
  • View Alignment History — every saved alignment. Favorite the good ones, and Restore any of them to the active location.
  • Reset Corner Skew — clear the corner pins on the active location.
  • Resolution — choose the resolution the Illumibot sends to the projector. Recommended options are listed first. Your corner pins are rescaled automatically.

Playback⚓︎

  • Stop what is playing
  • Scheduled Shows / Clear scheduled shows — see what's scheduled on this Illumibot, or clear it. Shows your automations run are kept.

Danger Zone⚓︎

  • Clear Cache — frees space on the Illumibot.
  • Factory Reset — wipes what's stored on the Illumibot. Your locations and creations in the app are not deleted.

Tip

Having trouble? Try Diagnose & Refresh, then Restart, then Clear Cache, before a factory reset.

Projector Control Hub⚓︎

This is how the Illumibot turns your projector on and off. Open it from Settings → Projector Control, or tap Power before power control is set up.

Under Preferred Power Protocol, choose CEC, IRLink or PJ Link, then set it up:

CEC (HDMI)⚓︎

Many projectors can be controlled over the HDMI cable.

  1. Tap Start Setup.
  2. Find and turn on the CEC setting in your projector's menu. It's sometimes called HDMI Link, Anynet+ or Bravia Sync.
  3. Tap Test Power On.

If CEC doesn't work, try IRLink.

IRLink is an infrared blaster that copies your projector remote. Buy one from the Illumibot shop, then:

  1. Choose Same Button (Toggle) or Different Buttons (Separate On/Off).
  2. Point your remote at the IRLink and Record the power signal (or signals).
  3. Test Signal. When it works, tap Save.

Advanced IR Settings has Rely on HDMI for power status, Send Count and Send Delay, for projectors that miss signals.

On newer firmware, the Infrared setup also offers Projectors we know, a library of ready-made remotes. You can copy more buttons (inputs, menu, sound) and use them from the on-screen Remote.

For projectors with a network port:

  • Use Local Connection — on if the projector is plugged straight into the Illumibot with an Ethernet cable; off if it's connected to your router.
  • Projector IP Address, PJ link Port (default 4352) and PJ Link Password (if your projector has one).
  • Prefer shutter for hide/show — Show/Hide all projections use the projector's shutter (video mute) instead of sending a black image.

Tap Setup & Save. PJ Link also powers the projector on and off automatically when scheduled shows start and end.

Start over: on newer firmware, the Hub's menu has Delete all control methods. It makes the Illumibot forget every way of reaching the projector, so you can set it up again from scratch.

Firmware updates⚓︎

When an update is available, Home shows Update ready under Needs attention. You can also check from Settings → Check For Updates.

  1. Check your illumibot is online.
  2. Before you update:
    • Use a good internet connection. Ethernet is best.
    • Keep the Illumibot powered on. Updates can take up to an hour.
    • The projector shows a white screen while it updates.
  3. Tap Update Now and follow the progress: Queued → Download → Install → Restart.

When it's done, you'll see Your illumibot is up to date. If an update fails, the app shows Last update didn't finish. Tap Try Again.

You can update every Illumibot in a group at once with Group options → Check for updates.

Automations & integrations (advanced)⚓︎

On newer firmware, Settings → Integrations lets your Illumibot react to the world around it.

Integration What it's for
Set Up DMX / DMX Automations / DMX Presets Connect to lighting rigs over USB DMX, Art-Net or sACN. Trigger shows from DMX channels, or send DMX levels.
Set Up Arduino / Arduino Automations Plug an Arduino into the Illumibot over USB. Trigger shows when a pin changes, something moves into range, or a sensor reading crosses a threshold.
Webhook Triggers Get a web address that starts an action when something on your network calls it.
Projector Automations Chain remote presses, such as switch to HDMI, when you ask, or when the projector turns on or off.

Each automation runs one or more actions, chosen under What should it do?:

  • Run a show (optionally looping) or Stop what is playing
  • Control what is playing — pause, resume, mute or unmute the projection
  • Tell the projector — power, blank or show the screen, mute or unmute audio
  • Set DMX levels or Drive a pin
  • Call an address — send a web request

If the Illumibot says it cannot run automations yet, update its firmware first.
